Workshop Wednesday: Textile Design Using bleach

By Liz Young

You all know the one: that old trusty shirt you just can't part ways with, but rarely seem to wear. Spice up your old wardrobe items by adding a little DIY design to them with this super simple method!

Things you'll need:

Cup of bleach

Pencils with unused eraser

Any wardrobe item or fabric you want to re-invent

Plastic sheet to cover workspace

Step One: Dip eraser end of pencil into bleach

Step Two: Let excess drip off and then use to create designs on your fabric.

Tip: Use an old scrap of practice fabric first, it takes a little getting used to because the bleach tends to bleed a lot.

Step Three: Enjoy your newly re-invented piece!

You can use this method to make galaxy tees, decorate canvas shoes or bags, or anything you can bleach!

I obviously need a little more practice, but I had a lot of fun doing it! So easy!
