Workshop Wednesday: Leather Jewelry
Our director Maclean is a master of many things and has recently started offering classes in leather jewelry making where students learned how to make all sorts of rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklace elements. Maclean will be hosting another intro class on February 6th, sign up here to claim your spot.
Leather is a great medium to play around with, especially if you are using cheap remnants (we get our scraps at Tandy Leather here in Houston, though they have a fabulous online catalog as well).
Using inspiration photos gleaned from places like Pinterest, we carefully looked at how each piece was made, and then went to town with Exacto knives, scissors, and leather punches.
Adding pops of color is easy, too: leather loves to be painted.
The techniques are simple, the combinations endless, and our class of first-time leather workers made some impressive pieces. Workshop success!
Maclean will be leading another leather jewelry workshop on February 6th, claim your spot before it fills up!
