Sign up for a taxidermy class at Houston Makerspace, taught by Mickey Alice Kwapis.
Students can take classes on one or more of the following days. Course offerings for the weekend are as follows:
Saturday, March 29th @ 4 pm: Lifesize (Full-Body) Domesticated Rabbit Mounts
Sunday, March 30th @ 12 pm (noon, not midnight): Lifesize (Full-Body) Wild Squirrel Mounts
Classes usually run about 4 hours. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
***NOTE: As students you DO NOT need a taxidermy license to take the class. Licensing will be discussed further in our classes.
We will supply everything you need to learn how to taxidermy an ethically-obtained rabbit or squirrel from start to finish and take it home with you when you are done. What does "ethically sourced" even mean? It means NONE of the animals used in class or in my personal work are killed just for taxidermy or fun. The skin will be used in class. Students are welcome to take home the carcasses and process for bones, preserve the heart, etc. and if they choose not to do so, the carcasses are shipped to various students of mine that use the meat to feed their families or pets and the bones are ground to fertilize their gardens. Bottom line, nothing goes to waste. (Note: Yes, people where I live actually eat squirrel.)
Your fee is inclusive of all supplies and costs. Please make sure you choose the correct day you want to take the class. If this class is being purchased as a gift, please email the correct contact information for the recipient in case we need to reach them. The instructor's email address is email@example.com
Please do not bring any dead animals to the class without consulting us first. If you have questions, please consult http://www.detroittaxidermy.com/FAQ or contact us.
If you are unable to pay for your class ticket in full today, you may make a $50 down payment to reserve your spot using the options below. Full payment must be received two weeks prior to the class to guarantee your spot. Deposits are non-refundable.
We recommend signing up or making a deposit ASAP. Our taxidermy classes in Houston ALWAYS sell out.
See you in March!
