Intro to Sewing: Reversible Tote Bag

Join us for an overall introduction to sewing using machines and leave with a reversible tote bag!

This class is suitable for beginners and those looking to increase their skills. This class will cover basic fabric, pattern and stitch knowledge. Students will create ivory exteriors with a choice of patterns for the lining. Fabric choices are all 100% cotton (machine washable). This is a fully lined bag with sturdy canvas straps that works well as a book tote, reusable shopping bag, carry-all for the beach or as a gift! We will supply everything you need to learn how to create your bag from start to finish as well as the pattern to repeat the process again at home!

Your fee is inclusive of all supplies and costs. We prefer students to bring and learn on their own machines. If you are unable to bring a machine, please email and we will do our best to provide a machine for you.

Elizabeth Mireles has been sewing since she was a little girl, and it has always been a part of her life. In early 2012, she decided to make her passion a career and enrolled in the HCC Fashion Design Program. At that time she also started her business, "Ms. Sew it All", designing and sewing custom costumes, dresses and swimwear.  Elizabeth's garments are vintage inspired from the 40s and 50s era. In February of 2013 she started working part-time at the Houston Ballet Costume Shop. Due to amazing teachers, Elizabeth has been able to achieve many of her goals including launching a small collection, available at

"I hope to inspire and share my love of sewing with you. If you have any requests for certain workshops, feel free to let me know!"
