Lasercutting Basics with Post-Studio Projects

Houston Makerspace is partnering with Post-Studio Projects to offer additional lasercutting classes!

Laser Cutting Basics dives into the ins and outs of using our 40” x 28” Epilog Fusion 40 laser cutter through hands-on training—and it’s a lot of fun! You will create a small laser-cut souvenir and learn helpful hints for creating all sorts of projects.

We will go over:
• basic laser use
• safety procedures
• laser-safe and prohibited materials
• setting up and drawing files in CorelDraw

Duration: 3 hours
Class Size: 5 attendees
Materials: provided

Please note this class will be held at Post-Studio Projects, which is a few blocks from Houston Makerspace. The address is:

2315 Commerce Street

Houston, TX 77002

This class is required for post-studio’s laser studio members and open to all others interested in learning more about laser cutting.

"post-studio projects is a hybrid experimental art space combining an art gallery, member-based laser cutting studio, and artist residency programs. Our gallery focuses on emerging artists from Houston and beyond. Our member-based laser studio provides access to a powerful, user-friendly laser cutter that can be used for a wide variety of applications. We currently house two different artist residency programs. Our Site-Specific Residency is mobile in nature and pops up in alternative spaces across the country, giving artists time and space to complete a site-specific project. Our Teaching Artist Residency offers artists subsidized studio space in exchange for teaching classes or curating shows in our gallery. In addition to programs for artists, we have a variety of classes for adults and youth. Above all, our goal is to create opportunities for creative and professional development for artists and to strengthen artists connection to the community."
