Welding for Beginners: Steel

Welding is a very useful skill to have yet so many find it intimidating.  This class will help eliminate the fear factor in a 3-hour, hands-on beginner environment.  Your instructor will cover safety, the types of welding, welding machines, plasma cutting and more.  Safety glasses, helmets, aprons and gloves are provided. NOTE: Minimum age is 18. Solid, closed toe shoes, jeans or work pants and long sleeved shirts required.  A bandana or sock hat to wear under the helmet is optional.  All should be garments that are okay to potentially damage.  Participants will be required to  sign a waiver absolving instructor of liability for injury.  This class is a prerequisite for Welding For Beginners – Aluminum.

This class will be taught at FMW Fab Lab, which is located near Houston Makerspace. The address will be provided to students.

FMW|fablab is a guy and a girl, a shop, some tools and a bunch of dogs. The guy, in the shop, with his tools, produces at least one of the following and sometimes all of them: useful things, useless things, beautiful things, handy things, creative things, recycled things or brand spanking new things. The dogs produce nothing but occasional entertainment. The girl tries to hold it all together.
